Left Brain Directions
Coordinates: 51° 8'56.79"N 120°51'3.18"W
If you’re using a smartphone as a GPS, make sure that you plot the course before you head too far up Deadman Vidette Rd, the cell service cuts out before the pavement does. The GPS will still work even if you don’t have service, as long as you plot the course before you leave the service area.Make sure that you come up Deadman Vidette Road, there are other ‘ roads’ that google says ‘ exists’. F rankly, they don’t.
Right Brain Directions
1) First head to Deadman Vidette Road.
From Cache Creek Turn right between the Husky and the Herbie Burger (if you’re coming up the canyon) and then drive about 20 minutes until you see the Mohawk Gas Station in Walhachin (remember, stop for gas). After that, turn left on Deadman Vidette Road this will happen just after the road turns left and goes down a big hill.
From Kamloops Head up out of Kamloops on the Coquihalla going towards Vancouver, then take the Cache Creek exit Highway 97. Stay on this road and go past Savona. Stop for gas here if you haven’t. Drive about 7 minutes further past Savona and turn right onto Deadman Vidette Rd.
From Vancouver Head up the Highway 1 and at Hope, follow signs to highway 5 Coquihalla / Kamloops. Stay on this highway until just before Kamloops and take the Cache Creek exit Highway 97. Stay on this road and go past Savona. Stop for gas here if you haven’t. Drive about 7 minutes further past Savona and turn right onto Deadman Vidette Rd.
2) Start the journey up Deadman Valley
Once you turn onto Deadman Vidette Rd, you’re practically on our 58 km long driveway. It takes about an hour to drive, and the difference between going 50 km/hour and 40 km/hour doesn’t make that much difference. We’ve tried both. The time up here is savoured in more than 10 minute increments, so take it easy, dodge the little tire popping rocks on the side of the road, and enjoy the lakes.
Here’s a list of things that you’ll pass on your way up, in the order that you will see them. These are just place markers. Stay on Deadman Vidette Rd. the whole way up.
1) Skeetchestn Indian Band
2) Bohnet Ranch
3) Deadman Cache Rd
4) Mowich Lake
5) Snohoosh Lake
6) Deadman Lake
7) Vidette Lake Resort
8) A REALLY REALLY BIG HILL
9) The Singing Lands you’ll see two smallish white signs
11) Some Rancher loading corrals
Then you should be a KM 58 and the Front Gate to Electric Love Ranch.
